The Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association (MPNCDA) announces the cancelation of its 2021 Portland International Auto Show scheduled for February 24-28, 2021. The current restrictions in Multnomah County as outlined in Governor Brown’s executive order will not allow us to execute our show on those dates.
After careful and extensive consideration of the health risks and other factors resulting from COVID-19, the opportunity for a rescheduled event later in the year does not appear to be a viable option. We now turn our attention to our next show which will take place February 23-27, 2022.
“We have held off making this decision in hopes that the opportunity to hold our show in February or move to later dates, would be possible for all of those who eagerly anticipate it each year. Of course, the health and safety of all of the workers, exhibitors, and attendees who make the auto show such a special event are of vital importance,” said Greg Remensperger, Executive Vice President of the Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association, which owns and produces the Portland International Auto Show. “We were encouraged to see the success of the Orlando Auto Show in Florida recently, but our state’s restrictions are different, and the earliest would have been towards the end of the year due to the size of our indoor event. At that point it makes more sense to simply wait until the following year’s dates,” continued Remensperger.
The Portland International Auto Show, the largest Northwest-based auto show, brings some 90,000 into downtown Portland each year. Produced by the MPNCDA and held at the Oregon Convention Center, the Portland International Auto Show is the largest automotive event in the region. Each year, it allows attendees to preview the latest vehicles and automotive technology in a family-friendly environment with some 500 new cars, trucks, SUVs, and powersports vehicles from more than 35 manufacturers, along with many other family-friendly attractions.
