The Test Drive. It’s been part of the car shopping experience forever, and is perhaps the most important tool to help would-be buyers choose the right make and model.
The 2017 Portland International Auto Show will present a number of Ride & Drive events, 14 in all, which enables attendees to see, touch, and experience new vehicles and get a true sense of its capabilities and amenities. Ride & Drive events are being staged around the Oregon Convention Center during the show’s run, Thurs., Jan. 26 – Sun., Jan. 29.
Manufacturers conducting Ride & Drive events this year include Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Jaguar, Jeep, Hyundai, Land Rover, Mazda, Ram Scion, Subaru, Toyota, Nissan and Volkswagen. Most manufacturers provide vehicles across the product lineup, so expect a wide variety of cars and trucks from which to choose.
In a break from the usual full-lineup Ride & Drive, Chevy, thanks to the NW Chevy Dealers, will offer an exclusive Bolt Ride & Drive on Friday. The Bolt electric vehicle has been making a splash at auto shows around the country with its stated 230+-mile range, and this will be an exclusive opportunity to try one of eight Bolts available. The Bolt, recently named North American Car of the Year at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, will be incorporated into Chevy’s full lineup Ride & Drive for Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
Not to be outdone in the EV department, Volkswagen will also feature its e-Golf, along with the Golf Alltrack. And Ford will be serving up lunch along with its Ride & Drive event with the Ford Food Truck Challenge Ride & Drive. Attendees will receive a voucher after a test drive for free food from one of two food trucks. And as everyone knows, Portland and food trucks go hand in hand, so participants can expect the best.
This year, Land Rover teams with Jaguar to offer the first luxury street course Ride & Drive. The event will take place in the plaza directly across from the MLK entrance, and is designed to demonstrate the luxury of the Jaguar line, along with the extremely capable luxury of Land Rover vehicles.
Ride & Drives rules and times vary by manufacturer; please visit www.portlandautoshow.com for updates.
